Find Out If RPL Is Right for You

Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) is a way to have your existing skills and experience assessed towards a nationally recognised qualification — without repeating training you've already done.

What Is RPL?

RPL recognises the skills and knowledge you've gained through work experience, previous training, or life experience — and maps them against the units of a nationally recognised qualification.

If your skills and experience align with what's required, you may be able to obtain part or all of a qualification without completing the full course. This can save significant time and money.

RPL isn't suitable for everyone — it depends on the depth and breadth of your existing experience. Our free skills assessment helps you find out whether it's the right pathway for your situation before you commit to anything.

This is a guide only and does not guarantee an RPL outcome.

Frequently Asked Questions

How long does the form take?

Less than 5 minutes. We ask for your contact details, a brief work history, and an optional resume or position description upload.

How long until I receive a response?

Our assessors aim to respond within 2 business days of receiving your submission.

Do I need to upload a resume?

A resume or position description is requested as it helps our assessors understand the scope and depth of your experience. The more detail you can provide, the more accurate the assessment.

Does a positive assessment guarantee RPL approval?

No. The free assessment is an initial guide only. It helps identify whether RPL is worth pursuing, but formal RPL requires a full evidence assessment which may reach a different conclusion.

Is there any cost or obligation?

None. The skills assessment is completely free. Receiving a recommendation does not commit you to enrolling in any course.

Which qualifications can be assessed for RPL?

Asset College offers RPL across a wide range of security, corrections, investigations, business and government qualifications. If you have an existing qualification or relevant experience, contact us to discuss your options.

The Free Skills Assessment is an initial guide only. It does not guarantee Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL). A formal RPL assessment is required to confirm eligibility and any credit towards a qualification.
