Construction Skills Queensland (CSQ) Higher Qualifications

CSQ funding helps existing, eligible or unemployed workers in the Queensland building and construction industry gain new skills and knowledge to progress their career. CSQ contributes between 75% and 100% of course costs, paid directly to Asset College.

About CSQ Higher Qualifications Funding

Construction Skills Queensland is an independent, not-for-profit, industry-funded body supporting employers, workers, apprentices, trainees and career seekers in the building and construction industry.

The CSQ Higher Qualifications program helps existing, eligible or unemployed workers in the Queensland building and construction industry to gain new skills and knowledge to progress their career.

CSQ funding is paid directly to Asset College, generally covering between 75% and 100% of course costs. This significantly reduces the cost to participants.

Important: CSQ funding is not available for a qualification being completed via a traineeship.

The only qualification currently available under the CSQ Higher Qualifications program at Asset College. Co-contribution fee: $500. Full course fee without funding: $2,495.

Eligibility Criteria

To access CSQ Higher Qualifications funding you must meet the following requirements.

Citizenship or Residency

Be an Australian or New Zealand citizen, permanent resident, or hold a work or study visa with 6 months or more employment in the Queensland Building and Construction industry.

Employment in the Industry

Be an eligible worker in Queensland substantially engaged in the building and construction industry, or be an unemployed eligible worker who has been unemployed for no more than 6 months in Queensland.

Construction Industry Work

Work must involve construction, significant renovations or extensions of residential or commercial buildings; installation services for interior trades; or civil infrastructure works.

Not an Apprentice or Trainee

You are not eligible if you are an apprentice or trainee, a contracted trainer or assessor, already funded by another source for the same training, or have previously received subsidy for more than 1 qualification under this program.

Terms and Conditions

How many qualifications can I access?

Only one qualification per contract term. CSQ funding is not available for a qualification being completed via a traineeship or apprenticeship.

Is RPL available?

A maximum of 50% of the qualification may be completed through RPL and/or credit transfer. You cannot undertake a Skills Assessment and Gap Training Qualification in the same contract term.

What are the program dates?

Start Date: 19 August 2024. Completion Date: 28 February 2026. Last Enrolment Date: 31 July 2025. Contact us to confirm current availability.

Does approval guarantee my place?

Applications are subject to approval by Asset College Head Office. A completed application does not guarantee approval. Availability of funding is subject to change without notice at the discretion of Construction Skills Queensland.

Are licence application fees included?

No. Participants are required to submit and pay for their own industry licence applications where applicable. These costs are not included in the student contribution fee or funding subsidy.

Can my co-contribution fee be paid by my employer?

Yes. Student co-contribution fees may be paid by your employer or a third party on your behalf. Registered Job Seekers should consult their Job Active Provider prior to submission as they may offer additional support.
