QLD Government - Back to Work Program
QLD Jobseeker Support Funding
Jobseeker Support is part of the Queensland Government's Back to Work program, designed to help disadvantaged jobseekers gain and retain employment. Up to $3,000 available to cover the cost of licences, uniforms, tools and more.
Who Can Apply?
Eligible groups must be Queensland residents and meet citizenship or residency requirements.
Young People Aged 15-24
Young people aged 15-24 years who have been unemployed for at least 8 weeks.
First Nations People
First Nations people who have been unemployed for at least 8 weeks.
People with Disability
People with disability who have been unemployed for at least 8 weeks.
Culturally and Linguistically Diverse
Culturally and linguistically diverse people who have been unemployed for at least 8 weeks.
Long-term Unemployed
People who have been unemployed for 52 or more weeks without work.
Citizenship Requirements
Must be an Australian citizen, permanent resident, New Zealand citizen, or temporary resident with necessary visa and work permits on a pathway to permanent residency.
What Support Can Be Funded?
Jobseeker Support funding covers specific costs that are barriers to employment. Funding is paid directly to the supplier or service provider, not the applicant.
For Asset College students studying security operations, transport security protection, or investigative services, the following costs may be covered:
- Security licence application fees
- ASIC or MSIC JobReady Checks for aviation or maritime security roles
- Safety equipment such as work boots, protective gloves and high-visibility clothing
- Basic tools of trade such as notebooks for investigations or torches for night patrols

How much funding is available?
A maximum of $3,000 is available and can be used across multiple approved goods and services.
How do I apply?
Submit your application through the Back to Work online portal. You will need to provide a copy of identification, employment status details, and at least one invoice or quote from an ABN-registered supplier showing the requested items.
What is not covered by the funding?
Funding cannot cover costs for goods or services purchased before application approval; vocational qualifications within the Australian Qualifications Framework (Certificate III or higher); assets or capital equipment such as laptops, tablets or mobile phones; wage contributions; or services already funded under other initiatives.
How long does assessment take?
Applications are typically assessed within 10 business days. Declined applications may be reviewed within 21 business days.
Can I apply more than once?
Applications can only be made once but may include multiple items up to the $3,000 limit.
