Traineeships
Traineeship programs are designed to help you earn while you learn. Undertaking a traineeship provides you with a unique experience to work towards a nationally recognised qualification, combined with real on-the-job experience. A traineeship is a partnership between the trainee, the host employer and Asset College.

Information for Employers
Before signing your employee up for a traineeship, you should undertake research to find the most suitable course for their job role.
Key employer requirements:
- The selected supervisor must hold at minimum the same level of qualification the trainee is studying, or higher
- Employers must provide regular time at work for trainees to complete learning and assessments during work hours
- Employers must communicate any changes to the trainee's employment status within 30 days
- Payment in full is required before the issuance of a training plan
- No payment plans or discounts are available on traineeship enrolments
- There are no refunds on traineeship enrolments

Choose and contact an Australian Apprenticeship Support Network (AASN) provider and complete the trainee signup.
Step 2 - AASN Notification
The AASN sends an SRTO notification naming Asset College as the training provider.
Step 3 - Asset College Accepts
Asset College's Training Coordinator signs the SRTO notification, accepting the traineeship.
Step 4 - Enrolment
Asset College contacts the employer and trainee to facilitate enrolment. Payment in full is required before the training plan is issued.
Information for Trainees
Trainees will undertake self-paced online study. You will have access to your dedicated trainer via email and can schedule phone conversations to ask questions about your assessments.
Asset College releases one unit of competency at a time. As you complete each unit a new one will be released. Students will not be released more than 3 units at any one time. This is to support your study progression and keep you focused.
You are required to submit a minimum of 1 unit of competency per month throughout your traineeship.
Complete Enrolment FormStep 1 - Complete Enrolment Form
Complete the online enrolment form and provide your Unique Student Identifier (USI) and valid photo identification.
Step 2 - Complete LLN Assessment
Complete the Language, Literacy and Numeracy quiz appropriate to your qualification level.
Step 3 - Sign Training Plan
Review and sign your training plan which includes submission dates for each unit of competency.
Step 4 - Begin Studying
Once enrolled into the online learning portal you will receive your first unit and can begin studying at your own pace.
Traineeship FAQs
Is government funding available for traineeships?
Asset College does not offer User Choice funding. CSQ funding is not available for qualifications completed via traineeship. If a current apprentice or trainee would like to access the Career Start program, prior written approval from the Department is required.
Are there refunds or payment plans for traineeships?
There are no refunds and no payment plans available for traineeship enrolments. Payment in full is required before the training plan is issued. Course fees are not transferable to another trainee.
Can I do RPL as part of my traineeship?
Yes. If you would like to be assessed for Recognition of Prior Learning or provide previous qualifications for credit transfer, advise us at the time of enrolment. RPL cannot be claimed for skills gained since commencing the traineeship.
What if I change employers during my traineeship?
If you plan to cease employment with your current employer you can request to transfer your traineeship to a new employer and continue studying. Contact your AASN provider to complete the transfer paperwork and advise Asset College you wish to continue.
What if a trainee is not progressing?
Asset College requires a minimum of 1 unit of competency submission per month. If trainees are not progressing in accordance with their signed training plan, Asset College may be required to advise the AASN and other regulatory authorities.
Can I choose different units of competency?
Asset College's standard course offerings include pre-selected units that meet the requirements for the majority of students. If you would like different units, we can develop an individual learning plan for an additional fee. Not all units listed on training.gov.au are available through our RTO.
