Language, Literacy, Numeracy and Digital Skills (LLND)

Do I have the right LLND skills for a security course?

Most security courses require a basic level of language, literacy, numeracy and digital skills. Before enrolling you will be asked to complete an online LLND assessment to identify any support needs. Asset College can provide additional support if required.

What language skills do I need for security training?

You need to be able to read and understand written instructions, write basic reports, and communicate effectively in English with colleagues and the public. Asset College can discuss your specific needs before enrolment.

What literacy skills are required?

Security training requires you to read course materials, complete written assessments and produce basic incident reports. If you have literacy challenges, speak to our team before enrolling to discuss available support.

What numeracy skills do I need?

Basic numeracy such as reading timetables, completing logs and managing simple calculations is required for security work. Most students find the level required is manageable with the support provided.

What digital skills do I need?

You will need to be able to access online course materials and complete digital assessments. If you are new to computers or online learning, our team can provide guidance on how to use the student portal before your course begins.

What if I need extra support?

Contact our Student Services team on 1300 731 602 or email study@asset.edu.au. We are here to help you identify what support is available and ensure you have the best chance of success in your course.
