NSW Smart and Skilled
Smart and Skilled is a reform of the NSW Vocational Education and Training system helping people in NSW get the skills they need to find a job and advance their careers. Eligible students receive government-subsidised training up to and including Certificate III, plus funding for higher-level courses in priority areas.
Qualifications Available Under Smart and Skilled
Under the Smart and Skilled program, Asset College has been approved to deliver a number of key qualifications to eligible NSW participants. This training is subsidised by the NSW Government.
Note: Funded training places are limited. To avoid disappointment, please ensure you complete all enrolment requirements as your funded place will not be held.

Higher-level business qualification for experienced professionals.
Eligibility Criteria
To access Smart and Skilled funding, you must meet all of the following requirements.
Age Requirement
Be 15 years of age or older.
Living or Working in NSW
You must be living or working in New South Wales.
Citizenship or Residency
Be an Australian citizen, Australian permanent resident, humanitarian visa holder or New Zealand citizen.
No Longer at School
No longer at school (with the exception of registered home-schooled students). Your eligibility is not affected if you have completed a VET course as part of your high school education.
Application Process
Smart and Skilled applications are processed through Asset College's Compliance Team. Written responses are usually provided within 3-5 days.

Review course information and contact Asset College for clarification on content, inclusions, outcomes, policies, entry requirements and pathways.
Step 2 - Receive Application Form
After determining your eligibility, Asset College sends you a Smart and Skilled application form and enrolment form.
Step 3 - Provide Your USI
Provide your Unique Student Identifier (USI) and undertake the required Language, Literacy, Numeracy and Digital Skills assessment for your course level.
Step 4 - Application Assessment
Your application is assessed by Asset College's Compliance Team with written response usually within 3-5 days.
Step 5 - Pay Contribution Fee
Pay your contribution fee if applicable. You may qualify for a fee-free scholarship depending on your circumstances.
Step 6 - Commence Your Course
Sign your training plan and commence your course.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can I get fee-free training?
This qualification may be fee-free if you are an Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander person; a person with a disability; a person who is a dependent of someone on a Disability Support Pension; eligible for a Fee Free Scholarship (concession-eligible persons aged 15-30, those in or from Out of Home Care, or those experiencing domestic and family violence); or a refugee or asylum seeker on a specified visa.
What is the Unique Student Identifier (USI)?
A Unique Student Identifier (USI) is required for all nationally recognised training. Visit usi.gov.au to create your USI before applying.
What language and literacy assessments are required?
LLND assessments are required at appropriate levels. For Certificate II and III courses, complete the ACSF Level 3 quiz. For Certificate IV and Diploma, complete the ACSF Level 4 quiz. Links are available on the NSW Smart and Skilled application page.
Are licence application fees included?
No. Participants are required to submit and pay for their own industry licence applications where applicable. These are not included in the Smart and Skilled funding program.
Can I defer or discontinue?
Students wishing to defer or discontinue must do so in writing by emailing study@asset.edu.au or writing to PO Box 350, North Lakes QLD 4509. Students will receive statements of attainment for completed units and an updated training plan.
Is Asset College a VET Student Loan provider?
