Course Overview
The SA Security Agent (General Guarding and Crowd Control) course is the required training to apply for a Security Employee Licence in South Australia — authorising you to work in general guarding and crowd control roles.
Asset College delivers this course over 8 days of face-to-face training in Adelaide. This practical, industry-relevant program equips you with the skills to work confidently across a variety of security environments including static guarding, retail security, patrols, access control, and event management.
Upon successful completion, you will be awarded the Certificate II in Security Operations (CPP20218) — the nationally recognised qualification required to apply for your SA Security Agent licence.

Upon successful completion, you will be awarded the Certificate II in Security Operations (CPP20218) and be eligible to apply for an SA Security Agent Licence with General Guarding and Crowd Control endorsements.

Entry Requirements
Age: Minimum 18 years of age.
Criminal History: No disqualifying criminal history. A criminal record may affect your eligibility for a SA security licence.
Physical Fitness: Reasonable physical fitness level required for practical exercises and first aid scenarios.
Technology: Access to a computer and internet for online study components.
English Language: High English language and literacy skills required.
Digital Literacy: Basic digital skills for report-writing, email, and online rostering.
Physical Capability: Must be capable of performing first aid scenarios including CPR on a manikin on the floor.

1. CPPSEC2101 — Apply effective communication skills to maintain security
2. CPPSEC2102 — Apply legal and procedural requirements to work effectively within a security team
3. CPPSEC2103 — Apply WHS, emergency response and evacuation procedures to maintain security
4. CPPSEC2104 — Apply risk assessment to select and carry out response to security risk situations
5. CPPSEC2105 — Provide quality services to a range of security clients
6. CPPSEC2106 — Protect self and others using basic defensive techniques
7. CPPSEC2107 — Patrol premises to monitor property and maintain security
8. CPPSEC2108 — Screen people, personal effects and items to maintain security
9. CPPSEC2109 — Monitor and control access and exit of persons and vehicles from premises
10. CPPSEC2110 — Monitor and control individual and crowd behaviour to maintain security
11. CPPSEC2111 — Apply security procedures to manage intoxicated persons
12. CPPSEC2112 — Apply security procedures to remove persons from premises
13. CPPSEC2113 — Escort and protect persons and valuables
14. HLTAID011 — Provide first aid
Licensing Requirements
Security licensing in South Australia is administered by South Australia Police (SAPOL).
To obtain your SA Security Agent licence you must:
1. Successfully complete this approved training (CPP20218)
2. Submit a licence application to SAPOL
3. Pass a criminal history and background check
4. Provide identification and meet all probity requirements
5. Pay applicable licence fees
RPL is available for this course at $900 for candidates with relevant prior experience.
Completing the course satisfies the training requirement but does not guarantee a licence.

- Assessment resubmission: $50 per assessment after 2 failed attempts
- Re-enrolment within 3 months: 25% of course fee; within 4–12 months: 50% of course fee
Delivery: 8 days face-to-face at our Adelaide venue. Training combines classroom instruction with practical exercises, role plays, and group discussions.
