Course Overview
The WA Cash-in-Transit and Armed Guard course delivers the Certificate III in Security Operations (CPP31318) — specialised training for licensed WA security professionals seeking to perform duties involving the secure transport of cash and valuables, with or without the use of firearms.
This intensive 2-week course (Monday to Saturday, 8am–6pm daily) covers everything from CIT equipment operation and secure loading procedures to the safe handling, carrying, and use of semi-automatic pistols in a security context.
Note: Armed security licensing in WA involves extensive probity requirements including psychologist and medical assessments. This course provides the training component — you must also meet all WA Police firearms licensing requirements separately.

Course Outcomes
Upon successful completion, you will be awarded the Certificate III in Security Operations (CPP31318), supporting your application for armed security and cash-in-transit licence endorsements in WA.

Entry Requirements
Prerequisites:
- Must hold a current WA Security Officer Licence (or be in concurrent application)
- Must hold a current HLTAID011 Provide First Aid certificate
Age: Minimum 18 years of age.
Citizenship/Visa: Australian citizen, permanent resident, or hold appropriate working rights.
Probity: Must pass a national police check and meet WA Police licensing probity requirements.
Medical/Psychological: For armed guard duties — must pass an approved psychologist assessment and a medical fitness assessment.
Firearms: Must not be prohibited from holding a firearm licence under the Firearms Act 1973 (WA).
English: English language, literacy, and numeracy proficiency required.

14 units total (8 core + 6 elective).

- CPPSEC3102 — Maintain operational safety and security of work environment
- CPPSEC3103 — Determine and implement response to security risk situation
- CPPSEC3104 — Coordinate monitoring and control of individual and crowd behaviour
- CPPSEC3105 — Coordinate provision of quality security services to clients
- CPPSEC3106 — Gather, organise and present security information and documentation
- HLTWHS003 — Maintain work health and safety
Elective Units:
- CPPSEC3118 — Inspect and test cash-in-transit security equipment
- CPPSEC3119 — Implement cash-in-transit security procedures
- CPPSEC3120 — Load and unload cash-in-transit in secured and unsecured environments
- CPPSEC3121 — Control persons using empty hand techniques
- CPPSEC3114 — Control security risk situations using firearms
- CPPSEC3116 — Carry, operate and maintain semi-automatic pistols for security purposes
Licensing Requirements
Armed security licensing in WA is administered by WA Police Licensing Services.
For armed CIT duties in WA, you will need:
1. Current WA Security Officer Licence
2. CIT and armed endorsements (requires this training)
3. Employment offer from a licensed firearms-approved security company
4. National police check — must not be prohibited under the Firearms Act 1973 (WA)
5. Approved psychologist assessment
6. Medical fitness assessment for firearm use
Note: The probity and firearms licensing requirements for armed security work in WA are extensive. Contact WA Police Licensing Services for current and complete requirements.
Completing this course satisfies the training requirement but does not guarantee any licence endorsement.
