Course Overview
The WA Security Officer and Crowd Controller course is the mandatory qualification required to apply for a WA Security Licence through WA Police Licensing Services – Security.
Western Australia has its own specific licensing requirements which differ from other states, including a longer face-to-face training component of 15 days compared to the 8–10 days required in other jurisdictions.
Note: Asset College is currently not delivering this course in WA. The course is available at our campuses in Queensland, New South Wales, Victoria, and South Australia — WA residents are welcome to travel to these locations to complete their training.

Course Outcomes
Upon successful completion, you will be awarded the Certificate II in Security Operations (CPP20218) and be eligible to apply for a WA Security Licence.

Entry Requirements
Age: Minimum 18 years old (you may enrol at 17 years 9 months).
Criminal History: No disqualifying criminal convictions in the past 10 years. A criminal record may affect your eligibility for a WA security licence.
Citizenship/Visa: Must be an Australian citizen, permanent resident, or hold an appropriate work visa.
English Language: High English language and literacy proficiency required.
Digital Literacy: Basic computer skills required.
Physical Capability: Must be capable of performing first aid emergency scenarios including CPR on the floor.
Units of Competency
14 core units:
1. CPPSEC2101 — Apply effective communication skills to maintain security
2. CPPSEC2102 — Apply legal and procedural requirements to work effectively within a security team
3. CPPSEC2103 — Apply WHS, emergency response and evacuation procedures to maintain security
4. CPPSEC2104 — Apply risk assessment to select and carry out response to security risk situations
5. CPPSEC2105 — Provide quality services to a range of security clients
6. CPPSEC2106 — Protect self and others using basic defensive techniques
7. CPPSEC2107 — Patrol premises to monitor property and maintain security
8. CPPSEC2108 — Screen people, personal effects and items to maintain security
9. CPPSEC2109 — Monitor and control access and exit of persons and vehicles from premises
10. CPPSEC2110 — Monitor and control individual and crowd behaviour to maintain security
11. CPPSEC2111 — Apply security procedures to manage intoxicated persons
12. CPPSEC2112 — Apply security procedures to remove persons from premises
13. CPPSEC2113 — Escort and protect persons and valuables
14. HLTAID011 — Provide first aid
Licensing Requirements
Security licensing in Western Australia is administered by WA Police Licensing Services – Security.
To obtain your WA Security Licence you must:
1. Successfully complete this approved training (CPP20218)
2. Submit a licence application to WA Police Licensing Services
3. Pass criminal history and background checks
4. Provide identification and meet all probity requirements
5. Pay applicable licence fees
WA Note: The WA licensing requirements are specific to Western Australia and may differ from other states. Always verify current requirements with WA Police Licensing Services before applying.
RPL is available for this course at $900 for candidates with relevant prior experience.
