This qualification supports individuals intending to apply for a QLD Private Investigator function on a Class 1 Security Providers Licence, issued by the Office of Fair Trading (OFT).
Drawing on the nationally recognised CPP30619 Certificate III in Investigative Services, the course develops practical skills used across insurance, legal, workplace, regulatory and commercial investigative environments. Students learn how to gather and analyse information, conduct interviews, take statements, perform surveillance, prepare reports and apply compliant, ethical investigative practices.

Course Outcomes
Graduates who complete all requirements will be awarded the CPP30619 Certificate III in Investigative Services — a nationally recognised qualification used in Queensland to support applications for the Private Investigator function on a Class 1 Security Providers Licence.

Entry Requirements
There are no formal academic prerequisites, but students must meet requirements for safe participation and suitability for the profession.
LLND Review: All students must complete a Language, Literacy, Numeracy and Digital (LLND) Review prior to enrolment.
Age & Licensing: Those intending to apply for the QLD Private Investigator licence should be aware of OFT expectations including minimum age of 18, valid identification, eligibility to work in Australia, and probity and criminal history screening.
Digital Requirements: A computer or laptop, reliable internet, and basic to intermediate digital skills are required for online study. Free Wi-Fi and computer access are available at Asset College campuses.
International Students: Not available to international students on a Student Visa (subclass 500).

Licensing Requirements
To work as a private investigator in Queensland, individuals must hold the Private Investigator function on a Class 1 Security Providers Licence, issued by the Office of Fair Trading (OFT).
Completing this qualification satisfies the training requirement; however:
- Licensing is issued solely by OFT
- Eligibility is assessed individually
- Training does not guarantee approval
Typical OFT requirements include minimum age 18, acceptable ID, criminal history and probity checks, right to work in Australia, and completion of the required training.

Course Fees & Delivery
Online Study: $1,795 — Includes platform access, learning resources, trainer support and 12 months to complete.
Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL): $900 — For eligible candidates completing the qualification entirely through RPL.
Career Start Program (Queensland Only): Eligible Queensland residents may access subsidised training. Co-contribution fees: $160 – Concession | $320 – Non-concession.
Delivery: Fully online, self-paced. Study from anywhere in Queensland with structured trainer support. Up to 12 months to complete all requirements.

RPL allows your existing skills and experience to be assessed towards a nationally recognised qualification — often enabling you to complete the course faster and at a lower cost than traditional study.
