The TAS Bodyguard course delivers the Certificate III in Close Protection Operations (CPP31418) — the training required to add a Bodyguarding endorsement to your Tasmanian security licence through Consumer, Building and Occupational Services (CBOS).
Designed for licensed security professionals, this course develops advanced skills in executive protection, threat assessment, tactical movement, and close protection planning — preparing you to protect VIPs, corporate executives, and high-profile individuals across Tasmania.

Upon successful completion, you will be awarded the Certificate III in Close Protection Operations (CPP31418), supporting your application to add the Bodyguarding endorsement to your TAS security licence.

Entry Requirements
Prerequisites:
- Must hold a TAS Security Guard and Crowd Control licence (Class F or Class G)
Age: Minimum 18 years old.
Probity: Must be a fit and proper person.
Criminal History: No prescribed offence convictions.
Technology: Computer with internet access.
Physical Capability: Physical fitness required for practical defensive technique scenarios.
International Students: Not open to international students (student visa 500).

8 core units + 6 elective units:

- CPPSEC3101 — Manage conflict and security risks using negotiation
- CPPSEC3103 — Determine and implement response to security risk situation
- CPPSEC3105 — Coordinate provision of quality security services to clients
- CPPSEC3121 — Control persons using empty hand techniques
- CPPSEC3122 — Plan provision of close protection services
- CPPSEC3123 — Implement close protection services
- HLTAID014 — Provide advanced first aid
- HLTWHS003 — Maintain work health and safety
Elective Units:
- BSBFLM312 — Contribute to team effectiveness
- CHCCCS020 — Respond effectively to behaviours of concern
- CPPSEC3102 — Maintain operational safety and security of work environment
- CPPSEC3104 — Coordinate monitoring and control of individual and crowd behaviour
- CPPSEC3106 — Gather, organise and present security information and documentation
- CPPSEC3108 — Store, protect and dispose of security information
Business Licence Additional Units (if seeking to operate a bodyguarding business):
- CPPSEC4001 — Manage work health and safety in the security work environment

Licensing Requirements
Security licensing in Tasmania is administered by Consumer, Building and Occupational Services (CBOS) under the Security and Investigations Agents Act 2002.
To add the Bodyguarding endorsement you must:
1. Hold a TAS Security Employee Licence (Class F or Class G)
2. Successfully complete this approved training (CPP31418)
3. Submit an application to CBOS to add the Bodyguarding endorsement
4. Meet all CBOS probity requirements
Payment plan fees:
- Extension fee (full qual): $150 per month / $300 per 6 months
- Extension fee (single unit): $50 per month / $150 per 6 months
- Assessment resubmission: $50 per assessment after 2 attempts
- Re-enrolment within 3 months: 25%; within 4–12 months: 50%
