Course Overview
The NSW Class 1A Security Officer and Crowd Controller course is the first qualification you must complete before working in security in NSW. Asset College's course is SLED-approved — a Class 1 licence, also known as a security operative licence, is the most common security licence in NSW.
This course is delivered through a blended model: online pre-study followed by a 10-day face-to-face workshop. Students must complete a minimum of 5 days of online training before attending the workshop.
Upon successful completion, graduates are awarded the Certificate II in Security Operations (CPP20218) — the nationally recognised qualification required to apply for a NSW Class 1A Security Licence through the Security Licensing and Enforcement Directorate (SLED).
Note: SLED requires all students to complete a mandatory Pre-Course Assessment (LLN Test) before enrolment is confirmed.
Course Outcomes
Upon successful completion, you will be awarded the Certificate II in Security Operations (CPP20218) and be eligible to apply for a NSW Class 1A Security Officer and Crowd Controller licence.
This course provides a pathway to further learning and work in various security roles including:
- Security Officer / Crowd Controller
- Patrol and Response Officer
- Event and Venue Security
- Access Control Officer
- Corporate and Retail Security
The Class 1A licence also provides the foundation for further NSW licence subclasses including:
- Class 1B Bodyguard
- Class 1C Cash-in-Transit
- Class 1F Armed Guard
