NSW Class 1F Armed Guard
Training for individuals pursuing armed security guard careers in New South Wales. This SLED-approved 2-day course provides the skills and knowledge to safely and responsibly handle firearms while working in the security industry.
Course Overview
The NSW Class 1F Armed Guard course provides the training required to perform armed security duties in New South Wales. This SLED-approved course equips students with the skills and knowledge to safely and responsibly handle firearms while working in the security industry.
This course delivers a Statement of Attainment for 3 units of the CPP31318 Certificate III in Security Operations and supports your application to add the Class 1F subclass to your NSW security licence.
Note: Employed armed security guards in NSW must also complete, to the satisfaction of the Commissioner, an approved firearms safety test. Asset College does not currently offer these firearms safety tests in NSW — please enquire with SLED for approved providers.
You must already hold a NSW Class 1A Security Officer and Crowd Controller licence and Advanced First Aid (HLTAID014) before enrolling.
Course Outcomes
Upon successful completion, you will receive a Statement of Attainment for:
- CPPSEC3101 — Manage conflict and security risks using negotiation
- CPPSEC3102 — Maintain operational safety and security of work environment
- CPPSEC3103 — Determine and implement response to security risk situation
This training supports your application for the NSW Class 1F Armed Guard licence subclass through SLED.
These units may also provide credit towards CPP31318 Certificate III in Security Operations.
Bundle Deal: Complete both Class 1C Cash-in-Transit and Class 1F Armed Guard for $1,250 (saving $250).
Entry Requirements
Prerequisites:
- Must currently hold a NSW Class 1A Security Officer and Crowd Controller licence
- Must hold a current HLTAID014 Advanced First Aid certificate (copy required for enrolment confirmation)
- Must be an Australian or New Zealand citizen, permanent Australian resident, hold a visa sponsored by a Master licence holder, or hold a visa for a skilled occupation corresponding to the licence subclass
Mandatory Pre-Enrolment: Students must complete a SLED LLN assessment prior to enrolment.
International Students: This course is not open to international students (student visa 500).
RPL Note: RPL is not available for NSW security licence courses. An Assessment Only Pathway (AOP) may be available at the standard course fee ($750).
Units of Competency
This course delivers 3 nationally recognised units:
- CPPSEC3101 — Manage conflict and security risks using negotiation
- CPPSEC3102 — Maintain operational safety and security of work environment
- CPPSEC3103 — Determine and implement response to security risk situation
A Statement of Attainment is issued upon successful completion. These units may be credited towards CPP31318 Certificate III in Security Operations.
Licensing Requirements
Armed security licensing in NSW is administered by SLED. To add the Class 1F subclass you must:
1. Currently hold a Class 1A licence
2. Currently hold HLTAID014 Advanced First Aid
3. Complete this SLED-approved training
4. Complete an approved firearms safety test to the satisfaction of the Commissioner (not offered by Asset College in NSW)
5. Submit an application to SLED to add the 1F subclass
6. Meet all SLED probity and eligibility requirements
Completing the course satisfies the training component but does not guarantee a licence. Contact SLED directly for the most current armed guard licensing requirements.
